Great Kids Farm of Baltimore

As a life-long educator and former middle school teacher, the Great Kids Farm program of Baltimore City Public Schools has me jumping up and down with excitement -- ready to pack my bags and move. Here’s why.

Thoughts on TRON and Mirror Worlds

The Code Project Insider (the must-read daily developer news & humor newsletter) had a pointer to this post at On-lineCollege.org: The Top 10 Movies for Computer Science Students. Remembering Triangle Area Smalltalk Veterans

I took a few minutes today to join the Triangle Area Smalltalk Veterans affinity group on LinkedIn. At present this is a fledgling group with a handful of 'early bird' members. In the annals of the history of early object-oriented technology, however, the 'Triangle' lays claim to a large, astonishingly productive, and remarkably influential collection of Smalltalk designer-developers.

Local Food Supply Chain Networks: The Case for Business Development and Job Creation

Unemployment and its part played in our current economic stagnation is a huge Gordian knot for those who have to work on policy and programs to address this crisis. Certainly the Local Food Movement is no all-encompassing Silver Bullet to be fired at the heart of a sagging economy. However, we do believe that a creatively imagined and energetically supported local food supply chain agenda can stimulate new business and job creation.
